The city of Burlington, including various community leaders came together with the police department to celebrate National Night Out (NNO), a nationwide annual community-building campaign designed to unite police departments and communities. Officers from the department circulated throughout the community to talk to its members about various drug and crime prevention programs.
The police department regularly sets up time for officers to meet with members of the community over coffee. Approximately 25 officers and civilian employees attended the event. They approached diners, introduced themselves, and handed out BPD coffee mugs. The department wants the community to come out to these events, not only because of their support for the department, but, also, to raise and discuss concerns they may have with us. Officer R. Henderson of the Burlington Police Department as well as two other officers from Elon and Gibsonville Police Departments are honored for their use of Naloxone, used to block opiods usually in overdose situations. Click here for the full article
The Department hosted female students in order for them to learn about leadership, communication, civic responsibility, and preparing for college and employment. The girls heard from female members of the department as well as other female members of the community.
