Which class is best for me?
The answer to this question varies from person to person. Individual health history is one of the first steps in selecting the right class, followed by personal preference of shallow or deep water classes. For more information on selecting the best class for you, contact the MAC at (336) 222-5043 and ask to speak with a water aerobics instructor.
How much does it cost for me to participate?
Your first class is complementary. It is free! We would like for you to try a class for free at the Maynard Aquatic Center to see if it is the right class for you. It may be your first experience, and we want it to be an experience where you can try and see for yourself how water aerobics will benefit you. Wear your suit, bring a towel and water bottle, and come to the pool.
Once You Are Hooked
Drop in cost per class is $4. A 10 punch pass card is $35, and a 25 punch pass card is $60. When you purchase a pass you save money! Save $0.50 per class with the 10 punch card, and save $1.60 per class with a 25 punch card.

Deep Water Classes
Hydro HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)-Deep: An athletic workout class designed for those who want to challenge themselves without stressing the joints. Performed in the deep water, this class will have you working on toning, conditioning and strength training utilizing the water’s resistance. This class focuses on enhancing your fitness through a mix of medium to high impact and intensity exercises.
Hydro Strength-Deep: Let us take you to the deepest part of water fitness training. This class is performed in the 10’ diving well with the assistance of a floatation belt. The natural resistance and buoyancy of the water against the body provides a variety of conditioning activity, emphasizing postural alignment. This challenging class incorporates high intensity, nonimpact strength and cardio vascular movements that improve your balance, coordination and endurance. Try it out on different days to experience a variety of teaching methods and styles from our diverse instructors.
Shallow Water Classes
Jammin’ in 30: This is our newest class offered at the MAC. Come get groovy for 30 minutes of aquatic dance and exercise class that will leave you energized and fit! This invigorating class takes place in the shallow water while dancing to upbeat music. Great for those with a lunch break or time limitations. A blast for all ages and fitness levels!
Aquarobics: This class is lead in shallow water where the participant can accomplish low, moderate and/or high energy levels in addition to choosing impact and non-impact styles of exercise. Pick your pace as you begin with a warm-up and lead through several cardio routines, muscle exercises and ending with a warm down and stretch. All exercises can be adjusted to meet all participants’ levels.
Aquatic Arthritis: This low impact class takes place in the shallow water and focuses on improving range of motion and strengthening muscle and joints that are vulnerable to arthritis. Warm water is a great stress reliever and the pressure water exerts on your body can aid in circulation. Ideal for those who have had knee and hip replacements or back problems.
Walk off Weight (WOW): By participating in our Walk off Weight class, you will get all the benefits of a group fitness class without the impact on your joints. Learn proper locomotion and gait training in the shallow water while toning muscle, enhancing endurance and increasing flexibility. This class is for swimmers and non-swimmers as well as all fitness levels.
